Chris & Courtney Skiera-Vaughn - Founders and Directors

Chris and Courtney were married in January 2011. Less than a year later, they found themselves traveling to Uganda to serve the less fortunate. After meeting Claire (pictured below) they decided to partner together to found a.k.a. HOPE. Chris has a background in Theological Studies and Church Ministry. Courtney is currently finishing her Ph.D. in Health Psychology.

Bill & Debra Howeth - Country Directors

Bill & Debra were married in 2008. Bill had a 30 year career with a phone company as well as served as an elder, speaker and ministry leader in the church.  Debra was the lead person of the Missions team and Cold Weather Care - a program which serves homeless in the north Denver area - at the same church.  Together they co-lead the Art of Marriage/FamilyLife event.

Claire Kobugabe - Headmistress

Claire has a love of children that is the driving force behind a.k.a. HOPE. While walking through the slums of Naguru she discovered the lack of resources available to these children. She went back the following day and started teaching. This became the first of many steps that got a.k.a. HOPE to where it is today.
